What's specific to M5: the flared fenders and aggressive M-package bumpers take longer to template than a standard 5-series. The most common choice in our studio is the "Front+" package. It covers around 90% of damage scenarios at the panels that take most of the punishment. Full wrap is mostly chosen by owners of rare specs (Competition, CS, M5 Touring) or those planning to keep the car 5+ years — at that ownership horizon, full coverage pays off in resale value retention.

This is the case where saving 30,000 ₽ on material gives you a visibly worse result on a 12-million-ruble car.

Other factors affecting the final quote

  • Paint condition. If a 2- or 3-stage correction polish is needed before wrapping, that's +40,000–80,000 ₽ on the quote. Skip the polish and the film "locks in" every micro-scratch and hologram — they'll be even more visible a year later.

  • Color. On dark colors (Carbon Black, Frozen Black) every film seam is more obvious than on light shades. Cutting takes more time, and the labor figure goes up by 10–15%.

  • Generation. F90 (2017–2024) has well-established plotter templates. G90 (2024+) sometimes still requires custom patterns at studios whose plotter library hasn't caught up — that's +1–2 days and an extra 5,000–10,000 ₽ in labor.

  • Headlight and bumper removal. Adds 10,000–18,000 ₽ to the bill, but the film lasts noticeably longer because it tucks under edges instead of being trimmed at the panel line.

Timing and process

Full wrap of an M5 takes 4–6 working days at typical studio capacity:

  • Day 1. Touchless wash, paint defect inspection under lamps, paint-thickness measurements. Package confirmation.

  • Day 1–2. Polish (if needed based on inspection) — typically 2 stages for an M5 with under 50,000 km, 3 stages above that.

  • Day 2–4. Wrapping zone by zone, top down: roof → hood → fenders → bumpers → rockers.

  • Day 5–6. Final IR-lamp curing and edge inspection.

After wrapping, no high-pressure wash for 7 days (over 80 bar can lift film edges). First wash should be touchless, by hand, or at a verified hand-wash facility. Adhesive fully cures in 14 days — that's when the film reaches its rated self-healing performance.

FAQ

Can I wrap only the high-risk zones and save money?

Yes — the "Anti-chip" package is exactly that. It covers about 80% of stone-chip risk for 70,000–120,000 ₽. Re-wrapping these zones every 5–6 years is normal; PPF is a wear item.

What if my M5 already has chips on the hood?
